Why Invest in NWEC?Supporting Job Growth... You can support the work we do by becoming an investor in our organization. We are working hard to support businesses and create jobs in Whatcom County. We continue our work as the designated Associate Development Organization and during the 2010-11 fiscal year, we successfully met or surpassed every goal set forth for our organization by the WA State Department of Commerce. The staff at NWEC is continually striving to provide high-quality services and expertise which promote economic success in our region. NWEC has celebrated numerous successes in recent months. -Won the Governor’s 2011 Best Practices in Workforce and Economic Development Award! Partnered with the WA State Department of Commerce, the NW Workforce Council, Bellingham Technical College and Impact Washington to create a pre-employment training program designed to streamline and accelerate the hiring of 400 new employees at Heath Tecna, a local aircraft interior and component manufacturer, bringing $40 Million in new export business to the County. -Provided funding from our Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) to support the expansion of Ferndale-based American Nettings and Fabric. NWEC’s RLF Program promotes job creation by providing gap financing to Whatcom County manufacturers. -Provided funding from our RLF Program to the Lynden-based dairy farm, Twin Brook Creamery that enabled them to purchase new equipment and hire additional employees in order to increase their milk bottling capacity, grow their business and supply their products to additional stores. These successes would not have been possible without the support of our private sector investors. |
