The gently rolling terrain of Ferndale is bound on the west by Puget Sound and intersected by the Nooksack River.  The city enjoys the gentle climate common to western Whatcom County.  Ferndale's central location in the County contributes to its growing industry base.  Full service utilities are available in the Ferndale area.

As throughout Whatcom County, quality of life is high in Ferndale.  Recreational facilities include four city parks, the Hovander Homestead National Historic Park along the Nooksack River, Tennant Lake Natural History Interpretive Center and ten playing fields.  The popular Highland Games are held annually at Hovander Park.

The Mt. Baker National Park and Ski Area is easily accessed by Ferndale roads.  Lake Terrell State Wildlife Preserve provides year-round opportunities for hunting and fishing.  Ferndale's resources and location make it a wonderful place to live.
